Former UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo has made his pick for the upcoming title fight between current champ Deiveson Figueiredo and challenger Brandon Moreno. Henry Cejudo captured the UFC flyweight title with a controversial split decision defeat of of Demetrious Johnson in August, 2018. After defending the title with a knockout of TJ Dillashaw in January 2019, he then ventured up to bantamweight, where he captured the vacant title with a defeat of Marlon Moraes, and retired after defending the belt against Dominick Cruz.

MMA manager Wallid Ismail has announced on social media that the UFC has signed Francisco Figueiredo, the brother of Deiveson Figueiredo. It’s been a good few weeks for the Figueiredo brothers. First, Deiveson defeated Alex Perez by submission at UFC 255 to defend his flyweight belt for the first time. The promotion then booked him against Brandon Moreno at UFC 256. Then UFC president Dana White handed him a bag of cash. Now his brother Francisco is making good in his own right, as he’s just been signed to the UFC. Ismail announced on social media that the younger Figueiredo brother signed with the UFC (via MMAFighting.com).

UFC president Dana White handed UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo $50,000 in cash and admitted he snubbed him of a bonus at UFC 255. Figueiredo had an incredible performance at UFC 255 last weekend as he submitted challenger Alex Perez in the first round with a guillotine choke for his first official title defense. Following the event, the UFC handed out its customary post-fight bonuses. Winning “Performance of the Night” was Antonina Shevchenko and Joaquin Buckley, and “Fight of the Night” went to Sasha Palatnikov and Louis Cosce. Somehow, White didn’t give Figueiredo a bonus despite having a great finish in a title fight. He was snubbed.

The opening betting odds have dropped for the upcoming UFC flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno at UFC 256. Figueiredo submitted Alex Perez in the main event of UFC 255 on Saturday, while Moreno took care of business with a first-round TKO over Brandon Royval. UFC flyweight contender Alex Perez has released a statement in the wake of his first-round submission loss to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 256. After a destructive TKO over Jussier Formiga in his last outing, Perez was supposed to be a live dog according to many fans and bettors heading into the fight, but he made a mistake early on. After getting caught up with Figueiredo in a grappling exchange on the mat, Perez left his neck free for half a second and that was all that the champ needed. A second later and Figueiredo was cranking tight on the neck of Perez and forcing him to tap out, handing Perez his first loss in nearly two years.

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo will make a quick turnaround when he takes on Brandon Moreno in the co-main event of UFC 256. On Saturday night at UFC 255, Figueiredo defended the flyweight belt for the first time with a quick, first-round finish over top contender Alex Perez. On the preliminary card, Brandon Moreno finished Brandon Royval in the first round by injury stoppage, setting himself up as the No. 1 contender. Indeed, following the event, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Figueiredo vs. Moreno would be the next fight for the UFC flyweight title.

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo was not thrilled that he was snubbed of a 50k “Performance of the Night” bonus award at UFC 255. Figueiredo defended the 125lbs belt for the first time since winning it over Joseph Benavidez on Fight Island when he took on Alex Perez in the main event of UFC 255. Though some were predicting that Perez could stylistically defeat Figueiredo with his wrestling, it turns out Figueiredo wasn’t having any of that. Soon after the fight hit the ground, Figueiredo was able to lock Perez up in a guillotine choke and finish him.

Alex Perez, who was scheduled to take on Brandon Moreno on the same card, will now step in against the champion. In the main event of UFC 255, Figueiredo is looking for his first flyweight title defense when he battles Garbrandt. It is a very interesting fight and the first time Garbrandt will be fighting at flyweight in the UFC. The two have also been taking shots at one another and that continues to be the case as Figueiredo took to Instagram to tell Garbrandt he is dreaming of knocking his head off.

It brought his current win streak up to five, leaving many to assume he would be next in line for a shot at the title. Now, UFC president Dana White has finally granted his wishes after weeks of not committing to the matchup. At the UFC on ESPN 15 press conference, he said that Sterling is likely next in line to fight Yan.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto broke the news that the world’s leading MMA promotion is planning both of these tittle fights for UFC 255, which will take place on November 21 at a to-be-determined location. UFC president Dana White confirmed both bouts are official. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani later added that Figueiredo has signed a new, six-fight contract with the UFC.

New UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo says granting former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt a flyweight title shot would be “unfair.” Garbrandt, who enjoyed a brief reign as the UFC bantamweight champion in 2016 and 2017, recently rebounded three-straight losses by knocking out Raphael Assuncao. While this dazzling knockout win put him in prime position in the race for a bantamweight title shot, he later expressed interest in dropping down to flyweight to challenge Figueiredo. He even proclaimed himself as the division’s No. 1 contender, despite never having fought there before.
