UFC president Dana White handed UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo $50,000 in cash and admitted he snubbed him of a bonus at UFC 255. Figueiredo had an incredible performance at UFC 255 last weekend as he submitted challenger Alex Perez in the first round with a guillotine choke for his first official title defense. Following the event, the UFC handed out its customary post-fight bonuses. Winning “Performance of the Night” was Antonina Shevchenko and Joaquin Buckley, and “Fight of the Night” went to Sasha Palatnikov and Louis Cosce. Somehow, White didn’t give Figueiredo a bonus despite having a great finish in a title fight. He was snubbed.

On Saturday night at UFC 255, Figueiredo defended the flyweight belt for the first time with a quick, first-round finish over top contender Alex Perez. On the preliminary card, Brandon Moreno finished Brandon Royval in the first round by injury stoppage, setting himself up as the No. 1 contender. Indeed, following the event, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Figueiredo vs. Moreno would be the next fight for the UFC flyweight title.

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo was not thrilled that he was snubbed of a 50k “Performance of the Night” bonus award at UFC 255. Figueiredo defended the 125lbs belt for the first time since winning it over Joseph Benavidez on Fight Island when he took on Alex Perez in the main event of UFC 255. Though some were predicting that Perez could stylistically defeat Figueiredo with his wrestling, it turns out Figueiredo wasn’t having any of that. Soon after the fight hit the ground, Figueiredo was able to lock Perez up in a guillotine choke and finish him.
