Deiveson Figueiredo has violent intentions for Joseph Benavidez when they meet for the vacant flyweight title at UFC Norfolk. Earlier this week, BJPENN.com reported the title bout was set, and for Figueiredo, he was very surprised to discover he would be fighting for the vacant title.

Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo will finally share the Octagon in the main event of UFC Norfolk on Feb. 29, and a belt will be on the line. Sources close to the situation have informed BJPENN.com that the fight is targeted to headline the card and a contract to Figueiredo has been issued moments ago. It is not yet determined if this fight will be for the vacant or interim 125-pound strap.

Last week, it was confirmed by Combate that flyweight contenders Tim Elliott and Deiveson Figueiredo will be going head-to-head at UFC San Francisco on October 21. Figueiredo is riding high since picking up a unanimous decision win over Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 240. It was a solid performance, but you can’t please everyone. His future opponent, Tim Elliott, was not overly impressed.

According to Combate, Brazilian flyweight fighters Deiveson Figueiredo and Alexandre Pantoja will reportedly be fighting at UFC 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 27. Figueiredo made his UFC debut with an undefeated professional record in 2017. He managed to maintain that winning streak until his most recent fight; a decision loss to Jussier Formiga. Prior to that loss, he defeated Marco Antonio Beltran, Jarred Brooks, Joseph Morales, and John Moraga in the Octagon. He’s now 15-1 as a professional.

Now, he’s eyeing the division’s very best fighters. In a post-fight interview with MMAjunkie, Deiveson Figueiredo called for a fight with new UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. If he can’t get this opportunity, well, he says he’ll settle for the most dominant champion in UFC history, former flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
