Pros react to Demetrious Johnson’s tenth title defense in a row
Demetrious Johnson made history tonight in Kansas City, recording his tenth-straight title defense by submitting Wilson Reis in the third-round of their event main event bout at UFC on FOX 24.
With the win, “Mighty Mouse” tied mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva for the most title defenses in UFC history.

Round one begins and Johnson starts things off with an inside leg kick. He goes to the body of Reis with a front kick. Reis circles and then misses with a right hand. Johnson connects with another inside leg kick. He attempts a high kick but Wilson blocks it. Reis shoots for a takedown but it is not there. Both men exchange kicks to the body. Johnson goes high with a kick but it is blocked by Reis. Wilson charges forward and scores a takedown. It last all of two seconds as DJ is right back up to his feet. Johnson with a nice front kick to the body. He follows that up with a solid low kick. Wilson continues to press forward. He shoots in for a takedown but Johnson stuffs it. Demetrious lands a nice right hand. He scores a knee to the body of Reis. Wilson fires back with a counter left hand. Round one comes to an end.
Round two begins and both fighters trade kicks early. Reis scores with a right hand. The fighters clinch up and Johnson briefly gets the back of Reis. Wilson is able to scramble free. Johnson leaps in with a stiff right hand. The fighters clinch up and once again Johnson gets to the back of Reis. He lands a knee before Reis gets free. Johnson circles and then lands a hard kick to the body of Reis. Wilson retreats and Johnson continues to press the action landing a right hand. DJ with a left hand and then a low kick. Reis is trying to get inside but he just can’t. Johnson with a knee. Wilson slips and DJ gets on top and begins dropping down some hammer fists and elbows. Round two comes to an end.
Round three begins and Johnson continues to utilize his fantastic footwork and timing to pick apart Reis. He lands another front kick to the body of Wilson. Reis just can’t seem to find a way inside. He attempts a spinning back fist but it is not there. Johnson cracks him with a jab. Demetrious gets the fight to the floor and begins raining down shots. He transitions to an armbar and this one is over!
