VIDEO | Demetrious Johnson Breaks Silence on ‘Snake Fight’ With TJ Dillashaw

By Justin Golightly - December 5, 2017

Potentially the biggest fight of 2018 is the long-hyped super fight between UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. Dana White announced the huge superfight at the UFC 218 post-fight press conference and Dillashaw has already started completely changing his training regiment in order to lose the weight to get down safely. While he’s been quiet on potentially the biggest fight of his career, he finally broke his silence.

TJ Dillashaw

“We’re working on it. We’re working on it, you know. Like I said, I haven’t been out and about and talking about this whole logistics matter, but yeah, we got a call. [My manager] Malki [Kawa]’s doing his job and making sure we get everything right and in line.”

“I know everybody and their momma want to see this snake fight so, we’re going to see if we can get it done. Hopefully we can and we’ll go from there. It ain’t a superfight if I can fight Sergio Pettis for the exact same damn money as fighting for another title. Keeping it real and keeping it one hundred. That’s keeping it real.” — Demetrious Johnson speaking to Forrest Griffin on the MetroPCS pre-fight broadcast for UFC 218.

Although announced as official, it looks like the fight isn’t done yet. Demetrious Johnson wants big money for the fight and that’s understandable. Let’s hope that negotiations go smoothly and their respective teams are going to be able to get the job done. This could be the highest skilled fight ever in UFC history and a huge test for a champion who has solidified himself as the most dominant belt holder in the UFC of all time. The UFC could crown another Champ Champ, or skyrocket Mighty Mouse even further as an all-time, pound-for-pound great.
