VIDEO | UFC fighters praise the skills of flyweight king Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson
What do Anthony Pettis, Sergio Pettis, Urijah Faber, John Dodson, Cub Swanson, Joseph Benavidez, and Henry Cejudo have in common? They all consider UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson one of the best fighters ever. Some have fought him in the past, some hope to fight him in the future, some reside well outside the weight class he rules, but they all agree that the flyweight champion is the pound-for-pound king.
The aforementioned fighters offer this praise for Mighty Mouse in a recent video published by the UFC. In this video, which is called On Point – Demetrious Johnson, they break down the skills and traits that make him such a special fighter.
“What makes him one of the best of all time is his footwork, his distance, his skill-set, his strategy,” Henry Cejudo says in the video. “He’s a miniature sized Georges St-Pierre.”
“He’s probably one of the least celebrated, but most impressive champions that we have in the UFC,” Urijah Faber said, echoing Cejudo’s statement. “The guy shuts down the competition. He’s beaten guys over and over again that are top level.”
“I would have to say he’s the best pound-for-pound fighter right now,” Anthony Pettis says. “Putting it all together, he has the wrestling, he has the striking, he has the cardio.”

Mighty Mouse’s next title defense will occur this Saturday, against the to-be-determined winner of the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. If he defeats this challenger, who will surely enter the bout as a massive underdog, Johnson will have defended his title nine times – just one defense short of Anderson Silva’s record of 10 consecutive title defenses. If Mighty Mouse is able to beat Silva’s title defense record, he’ll likely shift his focus to a long-discussed superfight with bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.
