In just over one month’s time, in the co-main event of UFC 207 on December 30, Dominick Cruz will attempt to defend the UFC bantamweight title against undefeated challenger Cody Garbrandt. Though Cruz is a sizeable favorite leading into this fight, Garbrandt presents a few very real challenges for the reigning champ – namely, the kind of one-punch knockout power that few of Cruz’s recent opponents have possessed.

As this fight draws ever closer, Cruz and Garbrandt continue to prepare for the challenges the other presents. For Cruz, that means engaging in hard sparring rounds with some of the big punchers at Alliance MMA, his home gym in Chula Vista, California.

On Sunday afternoon, Cruz took to his official Instagram account to share some footage of his latest sparring rounds. As this footage shows, the champ is going all-out in the gym, evidently expecting a tough fight on December 30. Watch this latest Cruz training footage at the top of this post.

Cruz will enter his bout with Garbrandt having recently defended the bantamweight crown against an old rival in Urijah Faber – who is , coincidentally, Garbrandt’s mentor. Prior to this defense, Cruz reclaimed the bantamweight title from TJ Dillashaw after a long stretch on the injury list. He has lost just once in 23 professional outings.

Garbrandt, on the other hand, will step onto the canvas with a perfect 10-0 record. The 5 most recent of his wins have all occurred in the UFC’s Octagon. The first saw him score a third-round TKO over Marcus Brimage. The second saw him nab a decision win from Henry Briones. His three most recent wins, finally, have all been first-round knockouts, scored against Augusto Mendes, Thomas Almeida, and Takeya Mizugaki.

What do you think of this Cruz training footage? How do you think his fight with Garbrandt will go? Sound off, PENN Nation!
