Donald Cerrone was hoping to earn his first win since May of 2019 when he squared off with Alex Morono in a welterweight contest at UFC Vegas 26. Morono (19-7 MMA) had taken the fight on short-notice, this after Cerrone’s originally scheduled opponent Diego Sanchez was handed his walking papers from the promotion just weeks prior to the event.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 26 event, a nine-bout fight card headlined by Michelle Waterson vs. Marina Rodriguez. The highly anticipated women’s flyweight main event proved to be a five-round war, with Rodriguez ultimately emerging victorious by way of unanimous decision (49-46 x2, 48-47).

Donald Cerrone is confident he will get back in the win column and do so by stoppage. Cerrone was set to fight Diego Sanchez but just over a week out, he was released from the promotion. After that, the UFC was looking to find a replacement and found one in Alex Morono.

Donald Cerrone says he never met Joshua Fabia but did know one of his friends beat him up in a bar fight. In Albuquerque, as Fabia and Diego Sanchez were becoming closer and started training with one another, Cerrone said he never got the chance to meet him. He did hear some stories about him and the death punch he has. However, according to “Cowboy”, the death punch didn’t work as Fabia got beat up.

Donald Cerrone was looking forward to fighting Diego Sanchez and says it’s sad that the TUF 1 winner let Joshua Fabia take over his life. For the past couple of fights, Sanchez has just had Fabia in his corner, and many criticized the move. However, the two appeared to get along, but recently, Fabia has been posting videos of his disputes with the UFC, and Sanchez was released from the UFC and pulled from his scrap with Cerrone.

Alex Morono was staying ready for a short-notice opportunity and he got his wish this week. When Donald Cerrone and Diego Sanchez were booked to fight one another on May 8, Morono called his coach, Sayif Saud, to tell the UFC he will be ready in case either of them pull out. Then, late last week, it was revealed Sanchez was out of the fight and Morono got the call asking if he was still open to filing in and he jumped at the chance to fight a legend in “Cowboy.”

UFC middleweight Kevin Holland is stumping to take on veteran Donald Cerrone on short notice next weekend in a 175lbs catchweight bout. Holland has lost his last two fights to Marvin Vettori and Derek Brunson after being taken down and controlled for 25 minutes in both of those bouts. “Trailblazer” was expected to take some time off to work on his wrestling skills, but it appears as though he wants to step back into the Octagon as soon as possible for a short-notice fight with Cerrone.

UFC Vegas 26 on May 8 has taken another hit as Diego Sanchez is reportedly out of his fight against Donald Cerrone. MMA reporter, C. Contreras Legaspi was first to report the news. It’s not known why Sanchez is out of the fight but the good news is, the UFC is searching for a replacement to face Cerrone.

Two legends square off in a potential retirement bout as Octagon veterans Diego Sanchez and Donald Cerrone square off later this spring. MMAFighting.com reports that Sanchez vs. Cerrone will be added to a newly-unveiled UFC event on May 8. Details for this card are scarce, so no word yet on if this will be a five-round headliner or if it will be a three-round fight. Regardless, this is a big fight between two of the UFC’s all-time best. With both nearing 40, Sanchez and Cerrone are getting up there in age and both have openly spoken about retirement. There is a very real chance that this may be the final fighter of both fighters’ careers.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor revealed that UFC 246: McGregor vs. Cowboy has been confirmed as the highest-selling UFC pay-per-view of 2020. Initially, it appeared that UFC 251: Usman vs. Masvidal was the highest-selling PPV at 1.3 million buys. However, McGregor posted a photo on his social media on Monday showing a letter from the UFC indicating that UFC 246 sold 1,353,429 PPVs, which means it would edge out the 1.3 million number that UFC 251 did. McGregor, ever the salesman, took to his Twitter to share the news that he and Cerrone are the highest-selling PPV of the year.

Sanchez is known for being one of the more eccentric fighters on the UFC roster, and yet despite his longevity, many have wondered whether or not it’s time for him to consider hanging up the gloves.
