Former U.S. President Donald Trump has nothing but praise for UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier. ‘The Diamond’ is fresh off his return to the cage earlier this summer at UFC 302. In the main event of that pay-per-view card, Dustin Poirier faced lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Entering the contest, the longtime fan favorite was a massive underdog. However, Poirier admitted that the bout could be his last and that he was willing to go out on his shield.

Joe Rogan is no stranger to interviewing political candidates, having the likes of Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard on various times in the past. Earlier this year, the podcaster had independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his show as well.

Conor McGregor has taken aim at former United States President Donald Trump after he revealed Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favorite fighter. Trump has been an avid fan of MMA and the UFC for years and he usually attends a couple of events each year. On Monday, while doing Adin Ross’ live stream on Kick, Trump revealed Nurmagomedov is his favorite fighter of all time, which caught many by surprise.

Trump is a known fight fan and has been in attendance for plenty of UFC events. Whenever he is in attendance, fighters have often given him a shutout or praise. However, Trump has never shared who his favorite fighter of all time is, despite Colby Covington claiming to be that individual.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has publically weighed in on the recent attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump. 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump at a recent 2024 campaign rally in Butler, PA. He shot Trump in his right ear before the U.S. Secret Service eliminated the gunman and escorted the former president from the scene.

UFC CEO Dana White spoke with former U.S. President Donald Trump on the phone just hours after a gunman attempted to assassinate him at a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump was in the middle of a speech at a campaign rally in Butler, PA on Saturday when a gunman opened fire from a nearby rooftop, striking the former president in the right ear. U.S. Secret Service eliminated the suspected gunman,  Thomas Matthew Crooks, within seconds of the shooting.

He submitted him in the fifth and final round to retain his UFC lightweight championship. Of course, Islam’s achievement was incredible, but it was made even better by the fact that Khabib Nurmagomedov was there in his corner.

The bout will be the first title shot of Dricus du Plessis’ career, as he faces the newly crowned champion. ‘Tarzan’ famously won middleweight gold back in September, with an upset decision win over Israel Adesanya.

That victory was Leon Edward’s second straight win over ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. However, it didn’t take long for the British fighter to get his next title challenger. On fight night, Dana White announced it would be the returning Colby Covington.

The bout will be Colby Covington’s first since a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Masvidal last March. Meanwhile, ‘Rocky’ is coming off a unanimous decision win over Kamaru Usman this spring, his second win over ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

Donald Trump isn’t a fan of Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington feuding. Both Masvidal and Covington have been vocal about their support for Trump while he was in office and since his departure. However, the two became enemies and even fought at UFC 272, where it was Covington who won a lopsided decision, which was a tough spot for Trump as he likes both of them.

The card went down over the weekend in Miami, Florida, with Israel Adesanya’s rematch against Alex Pereira in the main event. ‘Poatan’ famously won their first two outings in the kickboxing ring years ago. Last November, the Brazilian defeated ‘The Last Stylebender’  by knockout to claim UFC middleweight gold.

UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa has an interesting idea in mind for his return. ‘The Eraser’ has been out of action since his clash with Luke Rockhold last August. In that outing, the Brazilian put on a classic, going back and forth with the former champion for 15 minutes. At the end of the three rounds, Costa got the badly-needed win by unanimous decision.

Trump was a special guest at Saturday night’s Triller Fight Club boxing event, providing commentary for the fans and also answering a number of questions.
