According to Robin Black, who broke the news, “The Korean Superboy” suffered an injury that would keep him sidelined until October.

While there were reports going around that Choi suffered a back injury, BJPenn.com’s Chris Taylor tweeted an update on Thursday and confirmed that “The Korean Superboy” suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to be removed from the UFC 214 fight against Fili.

Taylor: Contrary to reports, I can confirm that it is a shoulder injury which forced Doo Ho Choi (@KoreanSuperBoy7) off the #UFC214 fight card. 1/2

Taylor also got the same timeline as Black for an expected return in October.

Taylor: The injury, which involves his rotator cuff, is not supposed to be too bad. My sources tell me they expect him to be back by October. 2/2

Choi holds a 14-2 professional MMA record, going 3-1 in the UFC. Choi last fought in December at UFC 206 where he and Cub Swanson put on one of the most exciting fights in UFC history where Swanson was awarded a unanimous decision after three rounds of war. Prior to the loss against Swanson, “The Korean Superboy” was on a 12-fight win streak, ending his first three fights in the UFC all by KO/TKO in the very first round.
