Kelvin Gastelum has called out Dricus du Plessis for a middleweight title eliminator fight this summer at UFC 290. Following a poor 1-5 run, Kelvin Gastelum got back to winning ways earlier this month. He did so by defeating Chris Curtis in an absolute war, although some felt as if Curtis should’ve been the one to get the nod. Either way, Kelvin is back in the win column, and that’s all he could’ve asked for.

Dricus Du Plessis has fired back at Israel Adesanya. After Adesanya became the middleweight champion at UFC 287 for the second time, he took aim at Du Plessis during the post-fight press conference. Du Plessis had of course previously questioned Izzy’s claim of being a real African fighter which Adesanya wasn’t a fan of.

Newly minted UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya has put Dricus Du Plessis on notice. Adesanya captured the 185-pound gold for the second time in his pro MMA career after knocking Alex Pereira out cold in the main event of UFC 287. Pereira was 3-0 against Adesanya in combat sports, and 1-0 under the MMA banner prior to his first UFC Middleweight Championship defense against “The Last Stylebender.”

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman feels Dricus du Plessis should be more careful with his comments. ‘Stillknocks’ is fresh off his victory over Derek Brunson earlier this month at UFC 285. The win was the biggest of the South African’s career thus far and was his seventh in a row. Prior to the win over Brunson, du Plessis had picked up victories over names such as Darren Till, and Brad Tavares.

Derek Brunson will look to return to the win column at UFC 285. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Brunson is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 285 on March 4 against Dricus Du Plessis. The event is expected to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
