Don’t expect Justin Gaethje to be Dustin Poirier’s retirement fight. Gaethje was ready to throw leather with Dan Hooker at UFC 313 this past Saturday, but Hooker’s hand injury forced him out of action. Rafael Fiziev stepped up in an effort to avenge his 2023 loss to “The Highlight.” This was another fun fight between the two, and it went the distance just as their first encounter did. Gaethje took a unanimous decision this time, and both men once again nabbed “Fight of the Night” honors.

The bout took place just a few months after ‘The Diamond’ handed the Irishman a knockout loss, and the former UFC champion was eager to get his revenge.

Dustin Poirier says he asked the UFC for the trilogy match against Justin Gaethje at UFC 313. Gaethje was supposed to fight Dan Hooker in a highly-anticipated bout, but just over a week out from the fight, it was revealed ‘The Hangman’ was out of the fight due to an injury. After he pulled out, several fighters expressed interest in replacing him but ultimately, it will be Rafael Fiziev who will be rematching Gaethje at UFC 313.

Topuria has made the decision to move on from the 145-pound weight class and in doing so, he’s vacated the featherweight gold. As for Topuria, UFC CEO Dana White has said it isn’t a guarantee that “El Matador” will get the next shot at Islam Makhachev’s UFC Lightweight Championship.
