Dana White reacts to Dustin Poirier’s comeback KO over Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299: “This is the sh*t that makes you a f**king legend”

UFC president Dana White has given his thoughts on Dustin Poirier’s tremendous victory over Benoit Saint-Denis last night.

Last night at UFC 299, Dustin Poirier produced one of the biggest wins of his career. After a tough first round against Benoit Saint-Denis, ‘The Diamond’ battled back in a manner that few thought he could. He managed to knock the Frenchman out in devastating fashion in the second round, vaulting himself back into title contention in the process.

As you can probably imagine, fight fans were pretty amazed – and based on the following interview, so was Dana White.

White praises Poirier

“The fight that he took tonight with Benoit, I mean, when the talk first started, everybody was like ‘oo this is a bad fight for Poirier’. Then Poirier came out and said ‘you know what I didn’t sign’ and all this – this is the s*** that makes you a f***ing legend. These are legendary fights.

“A lot of these fighters, you’ve heard it many times in the past, they want me to lose, or they’re trying to make me lose. I heard some nutty s*** the other day from somebody that I won’t even mention, but we don’t determine whether you lose or whether you win, you do. What we try to do is put on the best matchmaking fights that we can possibly do. That’s why big stars are built in the UFC and legendary fights happen every weekend.”

Whether you love him or you hate him, nobody can deny what Dustin was able to accomplish in Miami.
