Dustin Poirier responds to Conor McGregor’s post-fight comments from UFC 299: “He felt that right hook too”
Dustin Poirier has given his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s reaction to his battle with Benoit Saint-Denis last weekend.
On Saturday night, Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint-Denis went to war. They squared off in a blockbuster lightweight contest, and in the end, ‘The Diamond’ got the win with a vicious second round knockout. It was the kind of statement-making moment that reminded us all of his quality, as he goes on yet another push for a title shot.
Following his triumph, the aforementioned Conor McGregor congratulated Poirier and Saint-Denis on X.

“Great fight out of them French boys tonight! Toutes nos felicitations @DustinPoirier @BenoitSt_Denis @EmmanuelMacron [French flag].”
Dustin was then asked about his own French connections in the post-fight press conference, as well as Conor’s tweet.

Poirier responds to McGregor
“There’s a lot of French and Acadian where I live in Lafayette. My dad speaks fluent French. A lot of the Cajuns in Acadiana came from French-Canada, you know, we got kicked out and relocated to Louisiana.”
Dustin was then asked directly about Conor’s tweet.
“Yeah? Well, he felt that right hook too.”
It seems unlikely to think we’ll get a fourth meeting between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. At the same time, it’s the kind of idea that could tempt ‘Notorious’ back into the cage sooner rather than later. Of course, Poirier’s priority is likely going to be going after the lightweight crown – but this is a rivalry that never got an overly satisfying ending.
