UFC lightweights Dustin Poirier and Anthony Pettis went to war in the main event of UFC Norfolk tonight in Virginia.
After a spectacular opening two rounds, which showcased some amazing scrambles and violent ground and pound, Dustin Poirier was able to take control of the fight in round three.
Poirier got Pettis to the floor early in the third-round and promptly took Anthony’s back. From there, Dustin would lock in a body triangle and began searching for a rear-naked choke. “Showtime” would attempt to scramble free, but when he did he suffered a rib injury while Poirier took full mount. Pettis was forced to tapout, which marked an unfortunate end to what was a spectacular fight.
