The key lightweight scrap is expected to deliver fireworks for fight fans, as both Alvarez and Gaethje are known for their willingness to throw caution to the wind while inside the octagon.

Eddie Alvarez joined host Ariel Helwani on today’s edition of The MMA Hour where he discussed his upcoming fight with Gaethje and added that he and Justin are fighting for the title of “UFC’s most violent fighter”.

“The title isn’t on the line, but there is another title up for grabs and that is for UFC’s most violent fighter. That title is gonna be crowned on Saturday night and that title is the most important in the division right now.” – Eddie Alvarez on today’s episode of The MMA Hour.

Eddie Alvarez was most recently seen in action at May’s UFC 211 event in Dallas where he had a nine minute war with Dustin Poirier that ended in an unfortunate no-contest due to illegal knees.

Prior to that, Alvarez was coming off a knockout loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 205 in which he surrendered his UFC lightweight title.

Meanwhile, Alvarez’s opponent Justin Gaethje peaked the interest of anyone not aware of his World Series of Fighting achievements when he defeated Michael Johnson via second-round TKO in a fight of the year candidate which served as his UFC debut.

Gaethje currently holds a perfect 18-0 professional record which includes five lightweight title defences with The World Series of Fighting promotion.
