Eddie Alvarez refutes Schaub’s claims, says he’s training for UFC 205
On Wednesday, BJPenn.com reported on Brendan Schaub’s version of what he heard happened in regards to the Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor fight negotiations for UFC 205.
Schaub said on a recent episode of “The Fighter and the Kid” podcast that he heard that UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was demanding too much in the fight negotiations, to which the UFC was more than happy to figure out a different fight for the champ.
“So from what I hear, Eddie Alvarez was complaining to the UFC brass that he wanted more money to fight Conor McGregor. He wanted pay-per-view points, he wanted a certain amount of money. And the UFC, you know Joe Silva’s going out, he goes, ‘You wanna do what? Oh one of the biggest fight card of all time at Madison Square Garden. First time the UFC’s ever been to New York and we’re allowing you to fight Conor McGregor as the main event but you want more money? Nah, I’ll tell you what we’re gonna do. We’re going to pull Conor off, give him a bigger fight. Then, here’s Khabib Nurmagomedov.”
It seems that what Schaub had heard was not true.
Shortly after posting the report on what Schaub had to say, Eddie Alvarez responded to the twitter link of the report and said, “@bjpenndotcom this is a lie , please don’t report lies , You guys are awesome , keep it Real! Thank you #ufc205 #phillyfighter”

While it is hard to distinguish what exactly is happening in the negotiations that take place privately, our initial report was simply stating what Schaub had said he had heard in regards to the negotiation.
