“Valhalla” offers to fight Robbie Lawler on short notice at UFC 213
If you haven’t already heard, UFC 213 was dealt a real blow this morning, as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was forced out of his scheduled showdown with Robbie Lawler with an undisclosed injury. And though the UFC is reportedly considering moving this fight to UFC 214 on July 29, one eager fighter is hoping to step in for the injured Cowboy and fight Lawler on just over a week’s notice. That fighter is Norway’s Emil Meek.
Nicknamed “Valhalla,” Meek made his call for the last-minute fight with Lawler on Twitter.
I see you lost your playmate @Ruthless_RL 🙁 I’d be honored to stand and bang with you <3 #RuthlessVSValhalla #ufc #ufc213

“I see you lost your playmate, [Robbie Lawler],” Meek said in his Tweet. “I’d be honored to stand and bang with you.”
Lawler has not been seen in the cage in almost a year, when he succumbed to a first-round punch dealt by former training partner Tyron Woodley, and surrendered the UFC welterweight title in the process. Prior to that loss, he defended the UFC welterweight title with action-packed wars opposite Carlos Condit and Rory MacDonald.
Meek, meanwhile, recently debuted in the UFC with an exciting decision defeat of the dangerous Jordan Mein. Prior to this debut, he burst into the MMA limelight by clubbing Rousimar Palhares to a 45-second knockout win.
UFC 213 will be headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight between champ Amanda Nunes and challenger Valentina Shevchenko. The co-headlining bout, meanwhile, will see Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker collide for interim middleweight gold. The card’s original main event, a bantamweight title fight between champ Cody Garbrandt and former champ TJ Dillashaw, was also cancelled due to injury.
