Kicking off the show this week is a man who is on a 3 fight win streak and looking to extend that to 4 at CFA 12. Josh Sampo is back on the show and we can’t wait to talk his upcoming battle with Sam Thao. The match up is one that pits two styles against each other with Thao having all his 4 finishes coming by way of KO/TKO and Sampo having all his 5 finishes coming by way of submission. Josh is coming off a nice Guillotine Choke against Alexis Vila at CFA 9. We will talk with Josh about the recent signing to CFA, his goals inside the promotion, and of course how life has been since the last time he was on the show. Josh had quite the career as a wrestler before making the transition to MMA. Of course we will talk about his training at St. Charles MMA and the crew out there. Our second guest is a man who earned his spot on The Ultimate Fighter 18 in the first episode and he did it in fashion. What else would you expect from “The Real Deal?” Chris Beal is back this week to talk this season and his thoughts on how things have gone down so far. We will talk the whole season up to this point in detail from what you see on the show to the things that didn’t make it past the cutting room floor. We will talk with Chris about how his fight on the show was different for then the other fights in his career. Chris will share with us the process of getting ready for a fight inside the house, not having your coaches, teammates, and fans around with so much on the line and more. If you want to hear one of the most inspiring stories in the sport then do not miss this interview. Make sure to get over to Twitter and follow Chris @RealDealCBeal.
Kicking off the second hour is a President… No not of the United States and not of a fortune 500 company. We got the president of Legacy Fighting Championships. Legacy Fighting Championships started back in College Station, Texas in November of 2009 and since has grown into a promotion now featured on HDNet and one that has seen two of its former champions end up in The UFC. For those that don’t know Legacy actually was known as Lone Star Beatdown before being rebranded as LFC. We will talk to Mick about the early days when he was promoting 2 shows a year and how things have changed as they now do 10-12 shows a year. We will also talk with Mick about rebranding the promotion and the work it takes to run a promotion like LFC as well as a family. Mick has his hands busy on both sides and we can’t wait to talk the MMA promotion game with him and the future of Legacy Fighting Championships. Make sure to follow Mick on Twitter @Mickmaynard2
We are closing out the show with one of the biggest names in wrestling to ever have hit the show… Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo is joining us to talk his life, his transfer over to MMA, and his upcoming fight at LFC 24. Henry Cejudo is used to winning, he’s been doing it his whole adult life, but it took hard work and a lot of sacrifice… Let’s just say Henry is the one who decided to live a life full of wins, as the cards weren’t always stacked that way for him. As a kid Henry grew up in some very rough situations, sleeping on the floor many nights not knowing where his next meal would come from. Henry took to the mat to keep himself out of trouble and Henry as a high school wrestler took home four State Championships (In two states (Colorado & Arizona)) as well as the ASICS National High School Wrestler of the Year (2006). That same year, Henry became the first high schooler to win U.S. Nationals since USA Wrestling’s formation as the sport’s national body in 1983. Cejudo decided to skip wrestling at the college level and instead accepted an offer from USA wrestling to train at their main facilities in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (If that doesn’t prove to you the mans skill level, I don’t know what would.) Henry went on to win the Pan American Championships in March 2008. Next was Henry’s shot at the Olympics and again it took Henry not quitting. Henry’s path to the Gold Medal in the 2008 Olympics was far from easy, in his first three matches he lost the first round, meaning he would have to win the last two rounds to win, he did! Henry won the first two matches in the Gold medal match to secure his Olympic Gold. Cejudo lost his 2012 Olympic trial match, which after doing so he took his shoes off to a standing ovation and tossed them into the crowd acknowledging his retirement from the sport. Thus beginning his path into the sport of MMA. Henry is now 4-0 with all four finishes coming from TKO inside the first round. We have plenty to talk to Henry about, let’s just hope we can fit it inside 30 minutes and follow Henry on Twitter @HenryCejudo
