Colby Covington rips Jon Jones: ‘I’ll destroy Jonny’

Colby Covington and Jon Jones have had an interesting relationship over the years. Though they once called each other roommates, they’ve since devolved into enemies.

While Covington recently attempted to extend the olive branch to Jones, he’s still more than willing to trash talk reigning UFC light heavyweight champion if the chance presents itself.

The chance indeed presented itself on the latest episode of BJPenn.com Radio.

“I think it was time sensitive,” Covington said of his recent peace offering to Jon Jones. “I’ll destroy Jonny. I was destroying him in college, man, dumping him on his head every day in practice. You can go ask anybody in the Iowa Central wrestling room that was there when we were there.

Colby Covington continued, assuring that Jon Jones would not be the dominant force we’ve seen without performance enhancing drugs.

‘I’d love to get my hands on Jonny picograms, man,” he said. “If you didn’t have all those picograms in his system, he wouldn’t be the same fighter he is today. He’s a fucking piece of s**t.”

Needless to say, it doesn’t sound like Colby Covington and Jon Jones will be friends again any time soon.

Jon Jones is currently scheduled to defend his light heavyweight title opposite fearsome Brazilian knockout artist Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC 239 on July 6.

Colby Covington, meanwhile, is expected to get the first crack at new UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, though the matchup has not yet been made official.
