EXCLUSIVE | BJ Penn praises “great champion” Max Holloway
Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn is very proud to see fellow Hawaiian Max Holloway finding huge success in the UFC.
Holloway, who hails from Waianae, is currently riding an extremely impressive eleven fight win streak, his latest being a third-round TKO victory over Jose Aldo at UFC 212 which earned him the promotions featherweight title.
On the most recent episode of BJ Penn Radio, host Kinch asked “The Prodigy” to share his thoughts on Holloway’s meteoric rise to greatness.
“Man, Max is doing awesome! The guy is doing so awesome. He’s a great champion and he’s taking another tough fight. Fighting Aldo again, that is a tough fight. So congratulations to him. I think it is awesome. He’s doing an awesome job.”
Kinch asked “The Prodigy” if he has ever had the chance to train with Holloway.
“No I haven’t. I never got the opportunity to train with him but I think I’ll be over there in Oahu next week. I’ll be there hanging out doing something for RVCA actually, and we’re gonna be watching him fight. Yeah, so that’s gonna be awesome.”
Max Holloway was initially slated to square off with Frankie Edgar at next weekend’s UFC 218 event in Detroit, Michigan.
Unfortunately for fight fans, Frankie was forced to pullout of the fight with an injury which opened the door for Jose Aldo to get a rematch with “Blessed”.
Who do you think will emerge victorious when Jose Aldo and Max Holloway throw down for a second time in the main event of UFC 218 next weekend in Detroit? Sound off PENN Nation!
