On June 9, in the co-main event of UFC 225, top welterweight contenders Colby Covington and Rafael dos Anjos will battle for the interim welterweight title. While this matchup seems to have many fans and pundits divided, Covington’s friend and training partner Jorge Masvidal feels dos Anjos is in for a tough night.

Masvidal gave his take on this Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal matchup on the latest stacked episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. In his opinion, Covington’s size, strength and pressure will simply be too much for dos Anjos.

“Man, [Covington’s] looking good, this has been his best camp, injury wise, training wise, aggression wise,” Masvidal said. “It’s just tied up real well for him. He’s stayed in shape from the [Demian] Maia fight, he hasn’t stopped coming to the gym. He’s only gotten stronger, better. I see him with the hand raised, man. I could see him stopping RDA just because of the pressure alone, you know, [the pressure] he can put on guys.”

Masvidal continued, reminding that dos Anjos is a former 155-pound lightweight, while Covington is one of the UFC’s bigger, stronger welterweights.

“RDA, he wasn’t a big 55’er,” Masvidal said. “He was a strong 55’er, but he wasn’t like a big 55’er. He’s definitely [one of the] smaller, weaker of the 170 pounders. In comparison to other guys that are naturally from this weight that are real strong, I don’t think he’s as strong as those guys. And I think Colby’s one of the stronger guys in the division at 170 pounds. I’ve wrestled with some of the better grapplers at 170, and the strength level’s the big difference, and gas tank and size. I think [those things are] gonna wear RDA out to the next level.”
