We kick the show off at a special time Sunday Night (8:30 PM PST) as our last two guests will be competing at The No-Gi Worlds before coming on the show. Not to worry because with the guests that we have, it will be worth the wait. I mean we have a legend in the sport and one of the funniest guys you can get on a podcast, and our last two guests are beasts on the mat, with one being and ex-UFC fighter now turned Judge & the other being an 8X World Champ & 2X ADCC Champion.
We rarely will give one guest a full hour on the show, and our first guest is getting the whole hour. That means it has to be someone that has had a great career, been in the game a minute, and has stories for days… Well Professor Renzo Gracie I think fits the bill and we have him opening up the show. Renzo is known as a coach to some of the biggest names in the game and for his time in the cage. Renzo has not been in the cage since 2010, but as of recent he has been talking about making a comeback. We will talk with Renzo about his current contract situation with the UFC, his desire to come back, and what is driving him to make a return at this age. Renzo is also the brainchild of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo and we are looking forward to discussing the event heading into its second year. We will talk to Renzo about the layout of the event, adding a brown belt and black belt grandprix this year, the super-fights, and of course the future of the event. If we have time we will also talk to Renzo about his participation on this new upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, Penn vs. Edgar. We will open the phone lines at the end of the hour for listeners to call in and get in their questions with Renzo as well. Make sure to get over to Twitter and follow Renzo @RenzoGracieBJJ Renzo’s flagship event, the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo, will be held November 9th and 10th in Long Beach, CA at the Long Beach Convention Center. For details about the event visit their website http://worldjiujitsuexpo.com/
Our next guest will be joining us minutes after coming off the mat at No-Gi Worlds. Not only is he a high level Jiu-Jitsu competitor, owner of his own gym, and ex UFC fighter, but he is also an MMA judge, Ricardo Almeida is our second guest and with him competing at No-Gi Worlds we will get him to break down how he did at the event. We will talk with Ricardo about being a part of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo and how events like this help grow the sport and his vision of the future and growth of Jiu-Jitsu as a sport. Ricardo is also a part of Frankie Edgar’s team on the new season of The Ultimate Fighter. We will talk to Ricardo about coaching on the show, having only a short time to work with the athletes, and the match up between the coaches. After retiring from MMA, Ricardo switched sides of the cage and became a Judge in New Jersey. We will talk with Ricardo about the current state of MMA judging, how he feels it can get better, and some of the recent judging calls inside the UFC. If we have enough time we will try to talk to Ricardo about any desire for him to get back in the cage again. Follow Ricardo on Twitter @Almeidabjj
Our next guest will be coming off the mat at No-Gi Worlds shortly before coming on the show as well. Andre Galvao is closing down the show and wrapping up the Jiu-Jitsu talk. We will talk to Andre about how he did at the No-Gi Worlds and the future for him as a competitor in the sport. Andre will also be a part of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo and we will talk to him about his involvement, the super fights going on at the event, and of course how the expo helps the sport. We will talk to Andre about his ATOS Team and the transition from competitor to coach. We will talk to Andre about his career, the super fights he’s been a part of, and his most memorable matches. If we have time we will talk with Andre about his time helping one of the Greatest of All Time, Anderson Silva and if we will ever see him back in the cage. Get ready for the 8X World Champ and 2X ADCC Champ and follow Andre on Twitter @Galvaobjj
