Fabricio Werdum Replaces Mark Hunt Against Marcin Tybura at UFC Sydney
Justin Golightly - October 10, 2017
We’ve had a while week of fight cancellations and curve balls. For UFC 216, Kevin Lee nearly missed weight, Derrick Lewis pulled out of his fight with Fabricio Werdum, Walt Harris was removed from his fight with Mark Godbeer, then finally put in to replace Lewis against Werdum. It was no issue for the Brazilian heavyweight, who dispatched Harris with an armbar in just over a minute. Now, he uses that quick finish to turn around super quick to step in for… Mark Hunt at UFC Sydney? What is happening? Fabricio Werdum's Manager 'Proud' That Werdum Didn't 'Fold Tony Ferguson's Ass'
Justin Golightly - October 6, 2017
Everything is all set for Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee to meet each other in the Octagon on Saturday night. Well, all but the weight as of the time of this article. However, last week it was Fabricio Werdum and Ferguson who were about to start scraping at a media lunch. Eventually they were separated after the situation reached a fever pitch, but the fallout that followed was much worse than the actual encounter. Recently, Werdum’s manager commented that he’s actually proud of his fighter’s restraint. “In a way, honestly, I’m so proud of Fabricio Werdum not to fold [Tony Ferguson’s] ass and beat his ass. And the reason why he didn’t do that is probably because he didn’t want to lose the UFC main event [at UFC 216] and he respects Chris Costello. That’s what he told me. But on a normal day, Fabricio would have beat his ass.”
Fabricio Werdum 'Has to Pay' For Making Derrick Lewis Miss the McRib
Justin Golightly - October 3, 2017
Derrick Lewis has always had a love/hate relationship with training. His relationship with ribs on the other hand, has always been solid. The Black Beast has the biggest fight of his life coming up this weekend against dangerous heavyweight Fabricio Werdum. The perils aren’t lost on Lewis, who finally decided to change his diet leading up to the event. The results are speaking for themselves, but Werdum still has to deal with a dude who’s mad he missed the McDonald’s McRib. “I was still eating fried chicken, hamburgers, all of that fight week [against Mark Hunt]. The day of the fight, I’ve stayed eating the same way my whole career. Now I’m going to see how I feel however I get in there to see what the difference is to see what all the fuss is about. My mouth is watering right now thinking about some Carl’s Jr. I’m starving right now. You eat salad and you’re hungry the next 30 minutes and you’re hungrier from when you ate the damn salad. That’s what I don’t like about it. The damn McRib was in town. I had to miss the McRib and all the other things. My favorite restaurant had a special going on and I couldn’t even eat it. Somebody’s gotta pay.”
Fabricio Werdum releases short statement on use of homophobic slur aimed at Tony Ferguson
Russell Ess - September 29, 2017
If you weren’t aware of yesterday’s heated argument between Tony Ferguson and Fabricio Werdum, the two got into it with each other at the UFC 216 media lunch in Los Angeles. Ferguson was interrupted by Werdum when he was speaking with the media and the two began arguing in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Mark Hunt Calls Werdum a 'Coward' for Picking a Fight With Tony Ferguson
Justin Golightly - September 29, 2017
Yesterday during a peaceful media lunch, Tony Ferguson and Fabricio Werdum nearly came to blows. Despite the ridiculous difference — nearly comical — difference in size, Ferguson never backed down from the big man. He even threatened him with an ‘ankle pick,’ which was a great line and a contrast to the foreign obscenities and slurs Werdum threw at Ferguson. None other than Mark Hunt caught wind of the altercation and had to weigh-in on the incident. Given Hunt and Werdum’s past, this comes of no surprise.
VIDEO | Tony Ferguson and Fabricio Werdum Almost Throw Blows at Media Lunch
Justin Golightly - September 28, 2017
There was a media lunch today for UFC 216. It was outside the fresh air. Warm, but pleasant. Birds chirped, fruit and tea were served, it was nice. However, a can of whoop ass was also on the verge of being served before the meal even got started. Tony Ferguson was sitting at the table with Fabricio Werdum when the former UFC heavyweight champion interrupted Ferguson, then things just devolved into chaos from there. A blitz of English, Spanish and Portuguese exploded in front of the camera. Whether you can understand any of it or not, you can tell it was all bad. https://twitter.com/MMAFighting/status/913503884425023489
Mark Hunt Trashes 'Chicken Sh-t' Fabricio Werdum
Justin Golightly - August 19, 2017
Mark Hunt only has three modes: chill, no chill, and absolute destruction. Luckily, his last opponent Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis, didn’t pop for any drugs. Before that, his last four opponents in a row have been fighters who violated the UFC’s anti-doping policies, so it’s easy to understand why Hunt has been more no chill than usual. However, this isn’t about doping. Cowardice isn’t against USADA regulations, but Hunt claims that Fabricio Werdum has tested positive for it. The Super Samoan has been wanting that rematch with Werdum, but supposedly he avoided him at all turns. The kicker? Werdum is scheduled to fight Lewis, the hype train that Hunt just derailed.

Fabricio Werdum responds to criticism from Dana White
Tom Taylor - August 7, 2017
Last month, on the main card of UFC 213, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum lost a majority decision to former Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 champ Alistair Overeem. That said, Werdum very nearly won the fight in the third, when he visibly rocked his foe. Unfortunately, the decorated grappler opted to ground the fight, rather than attempt to polish him off on the feet. The stoppage win eluded him as a result. Post-fight, Werdum’s refusal to try to finish Overeem on the feet generated some backlash from UFC President Dana White:
