Fedor Emelianenko comments on MMA future following controversial win
On Friday in Russia, MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko fought former UFC fighter Fabio Maldonado in what turned out to be an incredibly controversial scrap.
Maldonado survived an early onslaught from The Last Emperor, and then fired back with some bombs of his own as he nearly finished Emelianenko with strikes. Emelianenko survived the round and went on to win a majority decision.
Following the controversial decision, many wondered if Emelianenko would call it quits and retire from MMA. At the post-fight press conference he briefly touched on the situation. MMAFighting has the quotes:
“As far as the rest of my career, I will recuperate and go over all of the proposals received.”
“All is still ahead. We will fight on.”
So far no word has been given yet on when Emelianenko plans to return to the cage, or who he would like to face.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
