Fedor Emelianenko’s friend, VP of Russian MMA Union, suspended
Last month, MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko returned to the cage to fight UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado in the main event of EFN 50 in Russia. The fight was a controversial one, with Emelianenko getting the win via majority decision.
Immediately following the fight, Maldonado and his team revealed that they would be appealing the decision. The head judge for the World MMA Association, Radmir Gabdullin, who is a longtime friend and training partner of Fedor Emelianenko, denied Maldonado’s appeal.
According to BloodyElbow, that prompted the WMMAA to temporarily suspend Gabdullin given the conflict of interest. The WMMAA will appoint Secretary General Alexander Engelhardt to handle the appeal.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
