Dos Santos and Ngannou went to war in a thrilling 70-second showdown at UFC Minneapolis this past summer. While dos Santos had some kicking success, he ultimately couldn’t handle the overwhelming power of his opponent as Ngannou was able to defeat him via TKO.

UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou said he had a productive meeting with UFC president Dana White and teased a big fight announcement. Ngannou has taken to social media in recent weeks to share his intense frustration for not having had a fight booked since his TKO win over Junior dos Santos back in June. He criticized the promotion for not giving him the Alexander Volkov matchup at UFC Moscow, an opportunity that Greg Hardy got instead. Ngannou then accused the UFC of using him as a gatekeeper and not viewing him as a true title challenger despite his three-fight win streak over JDS, Cain Velasquez and Curtis Blaydes.

Francis Ngannou wants another shot at the UFC heavyweight title, and believes a fight with Alexander Volkov could be the key to earning that opportunity. Unfortunately, the Cameroonian-Frenchman is convinced that Volkov is avoiding him and that the UFC is content to use him as a so-called gatekeeper. “Just for the record, Volkov turned down the fight against me twice,” Ngannou told MMA Junkie. “One was July 2017 and August 2018. He clearly denied to fight me.

Ngannou took to his social media today to say that he has talked to “Iron Mike” and that Tyson has agreed to prepare him for a boxing bout against Fury. If we are to believe “The Predator,” he will at some point step into the boxing ring and challenge Fury, widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.

Despite his best efforts, dos Santos became the latest victims of Ngannou’s incredible skill and power, succumbing to a TKO just 1:11 into the fight’s first round. Several months removed from this lopsided loss, dos Santos is keen for a do-over against Ngannou. Although he came up short the first time around, he’s not convinced that Ngannou is a better fighter than he is.
