Frankie Edgar welcomes Chan Sung Jung back in Nov. 10th headliner

The “Korean Zombie” is ready to return once again! And this time around it will be against a very notable former UFC champion.

After taking four years off due to mandatory military service, Chan Sung Jung returned in February 2017 to shake off the rust by knocking out Dennis Bermudez in the first round of their UFC Houston main event.

After that, he would, unfortunately, suffer a bad knee injury that would put him back on the shelf. That is until now!

Initially reported by BJPenn.com’s own Chris Taylor, Jung and former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar were targeted to meet at UFC 229 in October.

Earlier today, Taylor gave us an update stating that the fight was now targeted to headline UFC Denver on November 10th. This report was later confirmed by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.

Update: I’m now told that this featherweight fight is being targeted to headline the UFC’s 25th-anniversary event in Denver on November 10.

After being briefly linked to UFC 226 to possibly fight for an interim featherweight title in a rematch with the surging Jeremy Stephens, the bout didn’t end up coming together and now Edgar finds himself set to take on an always exciting fighter.

At UFC 222 in March, Edgar suffered the first loss of his career via finish at the hands of Brian Ortega. Shortly after, “The Answer” would return to rematch Cub Swanson in the co-main event of April’s UFC Atlantic City.

Despite being continually suggested to be making a mistake by jumping back into a fight so quickly, Edgar would come out with a solid unanimous decision victory.

Interestingly enough, this fight with Jung will actually be Edgar’s first main event bout since The Ultimate Finale 21 in 2015. Jung’s last three fights have all been in main events.
