Edgar began his UFC career in the lightweight division, where he ultimately became the champion by defeating BJ Penn. Several years later, he dropped down to the featherweight division, where he contended for the title multiple times against Jose Aldo and Max Holloway.

Yet, Edgar took a short notice fight against Korean Zombie which did not go his way in December. He then was set to face Pedro Munhoz at UFC 251, UFC Fight Island 1, UFC 252 and now finally, UFC Vegas 7. For Edgar, he admits this camp has been a long one and he is excited to finally be able to fight.

News of this rescheduled matchup, which is expected to occur at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, was first reported by Brazilian publication Combate.

A whole host of fighters have offered to replace Pedro Munhoz against Frankie Edgar. Munhoz is the latest fighter to be pulled from a fight due to a positive COVID-19 test. The No. 7 ranked bantamweight was expected to face Edgar on the UFC’s Fight Island on July 15. Unfortunately, he tested positive for the virus, leaving “The Answer” without an opponent for the upcoming event.

UFC veteran Frankie Edgar has reacted to the news that Pedro Munhoz is out of their scheduled co-main event on next weekend’s Fight Island card. Edgar hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to fights of his falling apart, and the same has happened here less than two weeks before he was set to make his debut in the bantamweight division.

Pedro Munhoz has tested positive for COVID-19 and his fight against Frankie Edgar is cancelled. Journalist, Raul Lopez was first to report the news, which was later confirmed by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

UFC standouts Dustin Poirier and Frankie Edgar were among a number of different fighters featured in booking announcements today. The former UFC interim lightweight champion, Poirier (25-6 MMA), has been rebooked to fight surging division contender Dan Hooker on June 27 according to reports from Combate and MMAJunkie.

Aljamain Sterling has called out Dominick Cruz for blocking him on social media, and also responded to a callout by Frankie Edgar. “The Funk Master” has been inching towards a title shot but the former champion, Cruz, has beaten him to it. The current bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo was scheduled to defend his title against Jose Aldo next. However, his Brazilian opponent had to pull out of their scheduled matchup due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar says he’s interested in fighting Aljamain Sterling in his bantamweight debut. Edgar was supposed to fight Cory Sandhagen back at UFC Raleigh in January in what was supposed to be his first fight at 135lbs. But Edgar was pulled from the card and instead fought Chan Sung Jung at UFC Busan at featherweight, where he suffered a nasty KO loss to The Korean Zombie. The fight with Sandhagen was subsequently wiped out as a result and Edgar has still yet to make his official bantamweight debut.

Henry Cejudo is looking for his first bantamweight title defense to be against a legend. Cejudo hasn’t fought since he beat Marlon Moraes by TKO to win the vacant bantamweight title. He was scheduled to face Jose Aldo at UFC 250, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the fight was scrapped. He was  then slated to fight Dominick Cruz on the fight card, but the status of UFC 250 is unknown at this time.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan and Frankie Edgar wonder if Conor McGregor is attempting to clean up his image. McGregor is widely recognized as the biggest star in MMA but he’s had his share of controversies and run-ins with the law. More recently, McGregor was under fire for punching a bar patron inside a pub in Ireland. The “Notorious” one is also reportedly under investigation for two sexual assault allegations.

UFC veteran and former champion Frankie Edgar has revealed that he has just one fight remaining on his current UFC contract. Edgar, who many consider to be a legend in the world of mixed martial arts, is coming off the back of consecutive losses at the hands of Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung AKA The Korean Zombie. The expectation was that he would be moving down to bantamweight to face Cory Sandhagen, but the injuries he sustained against The Korean Zombie ensured that wasn’t going to happen.
