Bellator announces two key fights including the debut of Gegard Mousasi
Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and perennial middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi will make his Bellator MMA debut this October.
Bellator officials broke the news during tonight’s broadcast on Spike TV stating that Gegard Mousasi (42-6-2 MMA) will make is promotional debut against former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko (56-9 MMA) on October 20 live from the Mohegan Sun Casino.
Mousasi will enter the Bellator cage riding an impressive five-fight win streak, which includes TKO victories over Uriah Hall, Vitor Belfort and Chris Weidman.
Meanwhile, Alexander Shlemenko has also rattled off five-straight wins, his latest being a submission victory over Brandon Halsey at M-1 Challenge 79 last month in Russia.
Bellator officials also announced that a key light heavyweight scrap between former champion Liam McGeary and former Strikeforce title holder “King Mo” Lawal will also take place at Bellator 185.
Muhammed Lawal (21-6 MMA) was last seen in action at Bellator 175 where he scored a decision victory over rival Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
As for Liam McGeary, the former Bellator strap holder was last seen in action this past May where he suffered a submission loss to Linton Vassell.
