Is a Tyron Woodley vs. Georges St-Pierre matchup now in the cards?
Now that UFC President Dana White announced that Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre is not happening and St-Pierre still aiming for a return to fight in the Octagon, who will be selected to go up against the former kingpin of the welterweight division?
Sports journalist Mike Bohn tweeted on Monday that Dana White said St-Pierre’s return will likely be back at 170-pounds where he dominated as champion instead of going up to 185.
Bohn: Dana White says GSP’s comeback will likely be at 170. Demian Maia needs few months off. Woodley surveying options. See where this is going?

Interestingly, with Demian Maia needing a few months off, St-Pierre said in a recent video before his match with Bisping was scrapped that he would be ready to fight anytime after October. That timeframe is what made White cancel the fight as they originally had plans for it to happen in July.
“They say they can’t wait for me, but they knew before that I can’t fight in the summer,” St-Pierre said to CTVNews.ca recently.
“We’re entertainers – we have a lot of commitments,” St-Pierre added. “It’s important for us to have support from sponsors because we live through that.
“That’s part of our living… When you sign for something, you honor it.”
Georges St-Pierre last fought in November 2013 against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167. St-Pierre ended up winning a close split decision fight and then walked away from the sport. St-Pierre’s initially planned matchup against Bisping was the first fight slated for his return to the Octagon since 2013 and now the MMA community awaits to hear who his opponent will be.
