While reports have continued to emerge over the past several weeks that former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon at UFC 206 in Toronto, with St-Pierre himself promising fans news regarding his return in ‘a few weeks maximum’. Unfortunately however, while St-Pierre was hoping to deliver on his promise of news of his return, shortly after ‘Rush’ gave the interview he then revealed in a separate interview that he had terminated his contract with the UFC, and was now a free agent. Despite that, St-Pierre remained in Las Vegas, with many speculating that St-Pierre remained in Vegas to negotiate with the UFC brass.

Several key UFC executives were let go, including Chief Global Brand Officer & Head of International Business Development in Vegas, Garry Cook, Chief Content Officer Marshall Zelaznik, UFC Executive VP & GM of UFC Asia Ken Berger, and UFC Executive VP & GM of Canada, Tom Wright to name just a few of the nearly 15% of the worldwide employees let go by the WME-IMG owners. In addition, approximately 80% of the UFC’s Canadian Office was let go.
