“GGG” on Lemieux fight: ‘He went to school… I’m in a different class’

By BJPENN.COM News - October 18, 2015

Gennady Golovkin picked apart David Lemieux for eight rounds on Saturday evening before picking up the technical knockout victory, and proved to the world he truly is one of the best boxers in the world.

With an undefeated record of 34-0, “GGG” is riding a wave of momentum that could bring him to a level of superstardom the likes of Oscar de la Hoya has seen. Whether or not he can reach the level of icons like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao depends on who he steps into the ring with next, but one thing is for sure: His stock rose tenfold with a win over Lemieux.

“GGG” was far from humble when he analyzed the fight. “David went to school tonight. He understands; [I’m in a] different class.” Golovkin said during the post fight presser. “I felt very good distance. I touch him. Every jab I touch him. I was waiting for an attack— crazy style, like street fight,” Golovkin said. “He’s a good style, David, he’s a warrior, but not this time.”
