UFC Fort Lauderdale Results: Glover Teixeira submits Ion Cutelaba (Highlights)

A light heavyweight bout between former division title challenger Glover Teixeira and Ion Cutelaba took place at tonight’s UFC Fort Lauderdale event.

Glover Teixeira is coming off a submission win over Karl Roberson in his most recent effort. The 39-year-old Brazilian has gone 3-3 over his past six fights.

Meanwhile, Ion Cutelaba enters tonight’s contest on a two-fight win streak, his latest being a TKO victory over Gadzhimurad Antigulov.

Round one begins and Cutelaba comes forward with a front kick followed by a head kick that appears to land. Teixeira remains composed but Ion looks to be the quicker fighter early on. Cutelaba with a low kick. Glover shoots in for a takedown. He is deep but Ion is able to shrug him off. A big low kick lands for Cutelaba. He lands a right hand and then a left hook. Ion with a leaping right hand that connects. Glover comes forward but eats a knee. Cutelaba with a right hand followed by a spinning back fist. Teixeira hits the deck. Ion is all over him with ground and pound. Glover scrambles and gets back to his feet. Cutelaba appears to be catching his wind now. One minute remains. Glover with a jab to the body. Ion leaps in with a right hook. The fighters clinch and Teixeira presses Cutelaba against the cage. Ion breaks free and lands a combination followed by a knee. Glover with a right hand. He lands a good left hook. Ion replies with a body kick. The horn sounds to end round one.

Round two begins and Glover land a right hand over the top. Ion with a good shot to the body. Teixeira with a right hand that appears to rock Cutelaba. The former title challenger with another right hand. Ion answers with a kick to the body. Glover wings a right hand. He is using a lot of pressure early here in Round Two. Teixiera shoots in but Ion denies the takedown attempt. Cutelaba with some good shots to the body from the pocket. The fighters clinch and Ion lands a knee. Teixeira with a good combination. Cutelaba answers with a left hand. A big shot scores for Glover. Both men with huge shots. Glover scores a trip and takes top position. He moves to full mount and unloads some punches. Ion gives up his back and Teixeira locks in a rear-naked choke. This is tight. It is all over!
