Hardy, one of the most controversial fighters in MMA due to domestic violence issues while he was a football player in the NFL, takes on Marcin Tybura this Saturday night at UFC Vegas 17. It’s the last UFC card of the year and Hardy will look to end his 2020 on a high note with a victory over the veteran Tybura. Though the fight is very close on paper, Hardy is already looking past Tybura and into his future, where he sees himself in the boxing ring.

A heavyweight bout between Greg Hardy and Marcin Tybura has been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Chimaev undercard. The UFC revealed the complete 13-fight bout order for UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Chimaev, which is scheduled to take place on December 19 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many of the fights announced were previously revealed, but one surprise was the Hardy vs. Tybura fight. The two heavyweights will clash on the main card of this event.

UFC heavyweight contender Greg Hardy made weight for his UFC Vegas 12 bout against Maurice Greene on Saturday night after an initial scare. At Friday’s official weigh-ins, Hardy first stepped onto the scale at 266.5lbs, a half-pound over the heavyweight non-title limit of 266lbs. Hardy was then given one more hour to make weight (Via ESPN’s Brett Okamoto). If Hardy didn’t make the weight, he would have become the first heavyweight in UFC history to miss weight (Via Sherdog’s Jay Pettry).

Hardy is coming off of a mostly-successful UFC rookie year in 2019. Though controversy followed him at every turn due to his dark past, Hardy showed that he is a legitimate heavyweight contender by going 2-2, 1 NC in his first fights in the Octagon, all of which took place within the span of one calendar year. Hardy set the record for most UFC fights in one year by a heavyweight in the process (though it’s happened in other weight classes.)

I really don’t like guys like that because I grew up with a troubled past, and I saw my stepdad fight my mom just about every single day.
