“I don’t have a very good opinion [of Greg Hardy being signed to the UFC]. I had a spat with domestic violence before I moved out to Vegas. That’s actually why I moved to Vegas.

I had my fiance at the time arrested on one count of attempted murder and two counts of assault. I know for a fact he’s done that to women before me and I know for a fact he’s done it to women since me. And I have no doubt that he’s going to continue doing that. He didn’t get convicted, he got a 15-month suspendsion sentence, still allowed to leave the country, all fine. That was it.

They gave him his second chance, and I’m a firm believer that someone who is capable of going as far as he went with me…and I know he’s been further with other women before I met him…he’s not going to change. He can do all the convincing and all the lying in the world, and he can convince you that he’s a really good person. But who he is at his core is someone who’s capable and willing to do stuff like that. So I am very against [Hardy] being signed because I don’t believe that people like that change.”

One of the UFC flyweight division’s top rising contenders is Australia’s, Jessica-Rose Clark. Like many, she too has an opinion on former NFL player, Greg Hardy and his transition into MMA and the UFC.

On Tuesday, Hardy defeated Austen Lane via 57 second knockout on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series to earn a developmental UFC contract.

Since his NFL days, Hardy has been followed by controversy involving his domestic violence case. Something that Clark has her own experience dealing with.

“Athletic ability seems to supersede any negative thing you do in your life.” Clark continued, “You see it time and time again, like Kobe Bryant. It happens so often, and it blows my mind that that’s where our society is at. That like, ‘Oh, he did all these really terrible things, but he’s an amazing athlete, so f*ck it, let’s just let him keep going and keep making his millions and keep being on TV.’ There’s no punishment.

What stops [Hardy] from going and doing it to the next girlfriend? I promise you that wasn’t the first girlfriend that he did that too. But he didn’t get punished for that one, either. He didn’t get punished for the first ones, and he didn’t get punished for that one, and now he’s going to be televised on one of the largest broadcasts in the world, for one of the most popular sports in the world. What’s stopping him from doing it to every girl that comes into contact with him?”

It’s unlikely that we will see Hardy’s next fight being in the UFC but crazier things have happened. And with Dana White’s often contradictory statements, this look isn’t the best. But that doesn’t mean it will change anything from happening one way or another.

As for Clark, she will be competing next Saturday at UFC Singapore when she takes on Jessica Eye.
