Last night, in the co-main event of the UFC’s latest trip to London, England, Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson scored an impressive win over the ever dangerous Alan Jouban. This win, which occurred after a fairly dominant first round, saw Nelson put his American foe on roller skates, before chasing him to the mat, where he locked up a guillotine choke for the win.

Alan Jouban and Gunnar Nelson may have went to battle inside the octagon yesterday in London, but that didn’t stop the UFC welterweights from getting together to talk fight strategies over a drink post-fight. Jouban, who was submitted by Nelson in the second-round of their co-main bout at UFC Fight Night 107, took to his Instagram where he shared the following photo:

For several weeks, we have known that a light heavyweight scrap between British knockout artist Jimi Manuwa and American wrestler Corey Anderson would serve as the main event of the UFC’s March 18 return to London, England. Now, we also know the card’s co-main event. London’s co-main event spot will be filled by a welterweight scrap between fan favorite striker Alan Jouban, and Icelandic grappling specialist Gunnar Nelson. This booking was initially reported by @TalkMMA on Twitter, and confirmed by a Tuesday press release from the UFC.

Not only is this practice quite dangerous – it’s resulted in many fighters fainting and being hospitalized – it’s also kind of unnecessary. In a recent interview with Fox Sports, Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson – who is one of the few fighters in MMA today to cut almost no weight for fights – weighed in on this controversial practice, and expressed his belief that it should be eliminated.

Just weeks out from fight night, it lost its main event, as Iceland’s honorary Irishman Gunnar Nelson was forced out of his headlining welterweight bout with South Korea’s Dong Hyun Kim. Luckily for the fans in Belfast, the UFC was able to scramble and create a new and compelling main event. The evening’s headliner will now see top middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi attempt to avenge a shocking 2015 loss to Urijah Hall.
