Henry Cejudo says Benavidez 'absolutely' deserves rematch after Figueiredo 'cheated' at UFC Norfolk
Natasha Hooper - March 11, 2020
Former UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo believes Joseph Benavidez deserves another shot against Deiveson Figueiredo for the vacant flyweight title. In the main event of UFC Norfolk on February 29, the flyweights battled it out in a non title-fight. They were initially scheduled to fight for the 125 belt that was up for grabs after Cejudo was stripped. However the Brazilian “Daico” missed weight and was penalized by having his title eligibility removed. Despite missing weight, Figueiredo used a huge right hand (and potentially an inadvertent head butt) to secure the KO victory in the second round. He sits at the top of the division’s ranking, but the title Cejudo once held still remains empty.

Tom Taylor - March 2, 2020
Henry Cejudo is no longer the UFC flyweight champ, but that doesn’t mean the UFC’s top flyweights are safe from his trash talk. On Saturday night, in the main event of UFC Norfolk, Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo collided in a bout that was supposed to crown the new UFC flyweight champ — unfortunately, Figueiredo missed weight for the fight, which made him ineligible to win the title. Figueiredo ended up winning the fight by second-round TKO, which means the flyweight throne is now vacant.

The vacant flyweight title was supposed to be won by either Joseph Benavidez or Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Norfolk. Cejudo vacated his belt when he decided to stay at bantamweight for his next fight against Jose Aldo at UFC 250. The vacant belt was supposed to be on the line at UFC Norfolk but no new champion was crowned because Deiveson Figueiredo missed weight, making him ineligible to win the vacant flyweight belt when he knocked out Joseph Benavidez. That means the UFC flyweight division once again does not have a champion, putting the division on life support once again.

Natasha Hooper - February 24, 2020

The Australian native is confident he would “squash” the American inside of the Octagon. “Triple C” has placed Jose Aldo and Alexander Volkanovski at the top of his matchup wishlist- despite the fact that Volkanovski is a weight category above.
