Michael Bisping says Urijah Faber vs. Henry Cejudo 'would be awesome'

Fernando Quiles - July 17, 2019

Michael Bisping wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Urijah Faber jump the line in the UFC bantamweight division. Back in Dec. 2016, Faber ended his professional mixed martial arts career. He walked off on his terms, defeating Brad Pickett via unanimous decision in Sacramento. Faber was later inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. For Faber, however, the itch to compete didn’t go away.

Urijah Faber says Henry Cejudo first called him out 10 years ago

Adam Martin - July 15, 2019

When Henry Cejudo called out Urijah Faber following his TKO win over Marlon Moraes at UFC 238, we assumed it was the first time he called him out. Not so fast, says Faber, who returned the favor by calling out Cejudo following his upset win over Ricky Simon at UFC Sacramento. According to the UFC Hall of Famer, the bad blood between these two goes way back. The former WEC champ says that Cejudo vs. Faber is a fight a decade in the making.

Urijah Faber discusses matchup with 'little cheat' TJ Dillashaw

Tom Taylor - July 15, 2019

Over the weekend, in the co-main event of UFC Sacramento, former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber made a triumphant return to the cage, stopping Ricky Simon in the first round of a bantamweight fight. Having defeated Simon, Faber is once again back in the bantamweight title conversation. He could even be the next man in line for the reigning champion Henry Cejudo. When Faber first began teasing his return to action, however, he was interested in a fight with his former student TJ Dillashaw.

Urijah Faber on Henry Cejudo fight: 'I could do it after this one'

Tom Taylor - July 12, 2019

This Saturday, in the co-main event of UFC Sacramento, Urijah Faber returns to the cage opposite rising bantamweight contender Ricky Simon. If he wins, he’ll take a big step in the direction of a bantamweight title fight with new champion Henry Cejudo, who called him out after claiming the title with a TKO of Marlon Moraes at UFC 238. “Absolutely, I’ll never rule that out,” Faber said of Cejudo in an interview with MMA Fighting. “Henry just called me out, the current champ at two different weight classes and an Olympic gold medalist. So that’s an enticing fight for me because of the matchup, and you know, the reason I’m in the sport. And the fact he threw me in the mix and we talked about it 10 years ago prior, which is kind of cool how that all played out. So that’s always in the back of my head, for sure.”

Aljamain Sterling extends gracious offer to Joseph Benavidez following UFC Minneapolis

Cole Shelton - June 29, 2019

A number one contender fight at flyweight was the co-main event of UFC Minneapolis. There, Joseph Benavidez was taking on Jussier Formiga in a rematch. And, just like the first fight, Benavidez TKO’d the Brazilian and secured himself as the top contender for the title. Following the win, Joseph Benavidez called out the flyweight champion in Henry Cejudo.

Joseph Benavidez says he's better than UFC champ-champ Henry Cejudo

Joseph Benavidez already has a victory over Henry Cejudo and he feels lightning can strike twice. Benavidez and Cejudo shared the cage back in Dec. 2016. Cejudo was coming off a first-round TKO loss to Demetrious Johnson. In the first round against Benavidez, Cejudo was deducted a point for low blows. The bout went the distance and Benavidez was awarded the split decision victory. Since that bout, Cejudo has gone 5-0 and he is the UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion.

Jorge Masvidal explains why he 'loves' Henry Cejudo's trash talk

Cole Shelton - June 27, 2019

Jorge Masvidal is not a big fan of trash talk. The welterweight contender prefers to do his talking in the Octagon. But there is one person who Masvidal can get behind in terms of trash talking, and that is Henry Cejudo. He likes the Olympic gold medalist’s talk because the champ-champ backs it up.

Jon Jones says Henry Cejudo is top pound-for-pound fighter

Cole Shelton - June 24, 2019

Before Henry Cejudo fought Marlon Moraes at UFC 238, he said a win over the top bantamweight fighter would make him the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. After all, he was already the flyweight champion and was looking to become the bantamweight title holder as well, this in addition to being a former Olympic gold medalist. “First and foremost guys. You guys are acting a little shy. I would like to start off by, I’ve been called some nasty things in my life and I’m sick of it,” Henry Cejudo said at his media luncheon before UFC 238. “I’ve been called a gold digger, I’ve been called a son of a gold, I’ve been called an Olympic champion, UFC champion, Hall of Famer, author, dreamcatcher, dream snatcher, G.O.A.T. killer, the king of cringe, greatest combat athlete of all-time. But, never have I been called the ‘P’ word and I’m sick of it.

Henry Cejudo potentially out until 2020

Tom Taylor - June 20, 2019

Henry Cejudo, now the UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion, could be out of action for quite some time. After a busy start to 2019, he’s gone under the knife to repair a torn subscapularis muscle, and his recovery could keep him out of action for the remainder of the year. This according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. Cejudo sustained this shoulder injury in his UFC 238 bantamweight title fight with Marlon Moraes. After a rough opening round, Cejudo gradually took control of the fight, and ultimately finished his dangerous Brazilian foe in the third round, winning the vacant bantamweight belt.

Tom Taylor - June 16, 2019

UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo is not just a tremendous fighter but also an interesting character. While some members of the MMA community find his personality charming, however, not everybody is on board with it. File former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley into that latter group.

Then, weeks after the fight it was announced he was flagged by USADA and suspended for two years for EPO use.

Henry Cejudo’s attempt to save the flyweight division might inadvertently destroy it

Jordy McElroy - June 11, 2019

Flyweight champion Henry Cejudo stood tall at UFC 238, relentlessly raining down punches and elbows on top of bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes—every concussive blow serving as a mortal wound to the 125 pound division. Help came for Moraes in the form of referee Marc Goddard at 4:51 of the third round, but none is coming for the flyweight division, which is now bereft of life and lying stone cold on the blood-spattered canvas. Demetrious Johnson has already moved on. The UFC already moved on. After winning his third major sports title, Cejudo finally moved on.

Aljamain Sterling likes chances against Henry Cejudo: 'Where does he win?'

Tom Taylor - June 11, 2019

UFC 238 was a big night for the bantamweight division. In the main event, flyweight champion Henry Cejudo captured the vacant bantamweight title with a TKO defeat of Marlon Moraes, while on the prelims, Aljamain Sterling established himself as the division’s top contender with a victory over Brazil’s Pedro Munhoz. While Henry Cejudo followed his bantamweight title win with callouts of Cody Garbrandt, Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, it seems likely that he’ll find himself defending the title against Aljamain Sterling in the near future.
