Herb Dean criticized for late stoppage at ‘UFC FN: Sioux Falls’
Earlier this week, the UFC hit Sioux Falls, South Dakota for ‘UFC Fight Night: 91’.
The event was an action packed one, with only one fight on the main card going to a decision. To kick off the main card on Fox Sports 1, Hawaii’s own Louis Smolka defeated Ben Nguyen via 2nd round TKO.
Referee Herb Dean received quite a bit of criticism for the late stoppage in the fight. Interestingly enough, it was also revealed that Nguyen’s corner actually threw in the towel to save their fighter from an unnecessary beating at almost the exact time Dean stopped the fight.

That was horrible reffing by Herb Dean. Nguyne's corner actually threw in the towel. Stoppage late. It reminded me of Weidman vs. Rockhold.
