Alex Pereira is weighing in on the rumored middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland. Although yet to be confirmed by the UFC, Strickland could very well be on tap to challenge middleweight champion Adesanya at UFC 293 on Saturday, Sept. 9th in Sydney, Australia.

Sean Strickland has claimed that he will not be fighting Israel Adesanya for the UFC middleweight title at UFC 293. After UFC 290, it seemed pretty nailed on that Dricus du Plessis would face Israel Adesanya for the belt later this year. Unfortunately, with the South African not being available, it was then suggested that Sean Strickland would get the call. He made it clear from the word go that he’d need to receive a big payday in order to say yes, especially with there being less than two months to go until fight night.

Following his win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 290, Dricus du Plessis was confronted by Israel Adesanya in the Octagon. The encounter featured plenty of slurs coming from Adesanya, some of them being of a racial nature. It seemed as if du Plessis wasn’t too interested in engaging with the champion, preferring to wait until he gets in the cage with him again before letting his fists do the talking.
