UFC Vegas 87 Results: Jairzinho Rozenstruik stops Shamil Gaziev (Video)

We have you covered for all of tonight’s UFC Vegas 87 results, including the heavyweight main event between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Shamil Gaziev.

Rozenstruik (14-5 MMA) will enter the bout looking to rebound, this after suffering a submission loss to Jailton Almeida in his most previous effort last May in Charlotte. Prior to that setback, ‘Bigi Boy’ was coming off first-round knockout victory over Chris Daukaus (see that here).

Meanwhile, Shamil Gaziev (12-1 MMA) will enter today’s headliner boasting a perfect professional record in MMA. The highly touted heavyweight prospect made his Octagon debut at December’s UFC 296 event, where he scored a second-round TKO victory over Martin Buday.

Round one of the UFC Vegas 87 main event begins and Jairzinho Rozenstruik lands a big low kick. Shamil Gaziev attemps to charge in for a takedown, but ‘Bigi Boy’ gets away and circles off the fence. More pressure from the undefeated heavyweight prospect. Rozenstruik with a low kick and then a right hand over the top. Gaziev shoots in but Jairzinho spotted it and was able to shake him off. ‘Bigi Boy’ with a good jab. Shamil is bleeding from his nose now. He tries another takedown but is once again stuffed. A decent 1-2 from Gaziev. That combination is answered by another good jab from the veteran. Good shots from both men in the pocket. Shamil Gaziev forces the clinch and pushes the action up against the cage. Jairzinho Rozenstruik is doing a good job of keeping this fight standing so far. One minute remains in the opening round. Gaziev looks for single leg and this time he gets it. He begins working from half guard. Some decent short elbows from the top. Rozenstruik just needs to survive this final ten seconds. He does and we go to round two.

Round two of the UFC Vegas 87 main event begins and Jairzinho Rozenstruik gets back to work with his jab. He lands a nice inside low kick. Shamil Gaziev is looking to force the clinch, but ‘Bigi Boy’ is doing well with his movement early. Another good jab from Rozenstruik. Gaziev returns fire with one of his own. He leaps in with a nice knee to the body. Rozenstruik needs to move here. He lands a jab and then a low kick. A nice leaping left hook now from ‘Bigi Boy’. He is beginning to open up here. A good left finds a home. Shamil Gaziev answers with a 1-2 and then forces the clinch. He presses the American against the cage and lands a hard knee to the body. Gaziev is smothering Rozenstruik here, but he is not landing much in terms of strikes. The referee is asking for action. Gaziev with a knee to the body. Rozenstruik with a left hand. The horn sounds to end the second frame.

The third round of the UFC Vegas 87 main event begins and Jairzinho Rozenstruik immediately gets to work with his jab. Shamil Gaziev is breathing noticeably heavier here in round three. ‘Bigi Boi’ throws a big right straight up the middle. He follows that up with a crisp jab. Gaziev lands a left hand and then rushes in to close the distance. Rozenstruik circles off the fence and connects with another good jab. He is landing that punch seemingly at will now. A big 1-2 from ‘Bigi Boy’. He goes to the body with a hard jab and then stuns Shamil with a straight left. A good counter left from Gaziev, but he has really slowed down here. Jairzinho Rozenstruik with a nice low kick and then another good jab. The horn sounds to end round three.

The fourth round of the UFC Vegas 87 headliner begins and Shamil Gaziev’s corner told him he needs to earn a takedown this round. He is pressuring early, but Jairzinho Rozenstruik is doing a good job of circling and landing his jab. Gaziev forces the clinch and pushes Rozenstruik against the cage. He lands a knee to the body and then one to the thigh. ‘Bigi Boy’ shakes him off and gets back to range. Good jabs once again from Rozenstruik. He connects with a beautiful 1-2. Big shots from the veteran. He is letting his hands go now. Ninety-seconds remain in the fourth frame. More good jabs and then a low kick from Jairzinho. He looks like the much fresher fighter. A big right hand knocks the mouthpiece of Gaziev. He puts it back in and Rozenstruik cracks him with a low kick. A big flurry from ‘Bigi Boy’ to close out round four.
