Jake Shields and Mike Jackson had an altercation today that turned physical. According to Shields, Jackson has called him a Nazi on social media which the former UFC title challenger was not happy with. The two have gone back and forth on social media and on Friday, they finally saw each other. Once they did, Shields took Jackson to the ground and was holding him there, and tried to land some ground and pound. Jackson – who has also fought in the UFC – is heard asking people to get Shields off of him, before Jake was eventually removed.

The rise of Khamzat Chimaev has been well documented thus far and this weekend at UFC 279, he’ll attempt to take a step closer towards winning his first UFC title when he goes head to head with Nate Diaz.

Jake Shields is hoping his longtime friend and teammate, Nick Diaz fights again. Diaz made his highly-anticipated return back at UFC 266 against Robbie Lawler. The fight came together quickly but on fight week, Diaz got the fight moved to middleweight and many were concerned with that. Ultimately, he suffered a TKO loss to Lawler and after the bout, Shields says Diaz was forced into taking the fight.

Yet, Shields, who is a longtime teammate of Diaz didn’t think kindly of Burns’ callout.

Former UFC welterweight title contender Jake Shields reacted on social media after COVID-19 led to several Fight Island bouts being scrapped. Numerous bouts set to take place this month have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the most prominent being the scheduled UFC 251 main event between UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. After Burns tested positive on Friday, the UFC worked hard all weekend to book a replacement fight with Jorge Masvidal.

Jake Shields is keeping his options open. The 40-year-old has not fought since October 2018 at PFL 10 when he lost by TKO to Ray Cooper III for the second time in the year. He wanted to try out the tournament format, but at his age, he said he didn’t know if he wanted to fight so often to do it again.

Over the last few years, we’ve all been wondering when Nick and Nate Diaz will fight again. The brothers have been fan favorites for ages now, but both have taken years off when it seemed like their popularity and their skill was at an all-time high. While it now sounds as though Nick Diaz will return to action opposite Jorge Masvidal at UFC 235, has hasn’t fought since UFC 183 in 2015, when he took on Anderson Silva in a fight that was ruled a no contest when he tested positive for marijuana and Silva tested positive for drostanolone. Although his long absence is due in part to a suspension, his interest in competing has also been questioned.
