UFC veteran Jamie Varner takes aim at Laura Sanko for “ruining the fights” with her commentary: “She is just annoying”

Laura Sanko has been showered with praise ever since taking on the role of UFC color commentator, but Jamie Varner is clearly not impressed.

Sanko was on the call for UFC Vegas 89 this past Saturday night, which was headlined by a women’s flyweight battle between Rose Namajunas and Amanda Ribas. She was joined at the desk by play-by-play fixture on Fight Night cards Brendan Fitzgerald, and Paul Felder.

During the UFC Vegas 89 broadcast, former WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner had some harsh criticism of Sanko’s work on commentary.

In a series of posts on his X account during UFC Vegas 89, Varner shared some not so flattering thoughts about Laura Sanko on the headset.

“@laura_sanko sucks so bad at commentating! She’s a try hard that speaks about things she knows nothing about. Talking about blast doubles and how tiring it could be in the first round of the fight, like what do you know about any of those things? Stay in your lane, Try Hard

“@laura_sanko is ruining the fights by talking so much. Leave the commentary to the people that have actually fought. A female UFC fighter should have that job, she is just annoying and it’s obvious she is trying so hard and doesn’t know what she is talking about.”

A slew of people chimed in on Varner’s comments and mostly disagreed with the former UFC athlete. “C-4” stood his ground.

Varner hasn’t had this much engagement on his X account since he weighed in on the Raquel Pennington vs. Mayra Bueno Silva fight earlier this year. While he had his share of supporters for his criticism of that fight, he isn’t exactly feeling the love with his outburst on Laura Sanko’s performance as a commentator.
