Usman was willing to move up 35 pounds, in fact. In a recent interview with GQ, Usman revealed that he wanted to move up in weight to fight Jan Blachowicz. The Polish fighter was the UFC’s light-heavyweight champion at the time and had recently defeated Usman’s countryman in Israel Adesanya.

Blachowicz lost his belt last month at UFC 267 when he was submitted in the first round by Glover Teixeira in what was a big upset. It was a disappointing loss for Blachowicz, who was coming off of a huge win over Israel Adesanya in his last fight. But he is already looking to get back into the cage and get back on track. Although losing that fight to Teixeira was one of the low points of Blachowicz’s UFC career, he often bounces back well from losses, and the Pole is confident that he can make it back to the top of the mountain.

The event saw two titles on the line as Jan Blachowicz was looking to defend his light heavyweight strap against Glover Teixeira while Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen were fighting for the interim bantamweight title. UFC 267 ended up being a good one as in the main event Texeira finally became a UFC champion as he submitted Blachowicz in the second round. Yan, meanwhile, edged out Sandhagen by decision in a phenomenal scrap. Now, after the event, here is what I think should be next for the four fighters involved in the title fights.

It was one hell of a performance by Teixeira, who captured a UFC title at age 42, but for Blachowicz, it was one of the weakest showings in years. Blachowicz, who is known for his “legendary Polish power,” was not able to connect with Teixeira during the fight when it took place on the feet, and on the ground, he had absolutely no answers for Teixeira.

Blachowicz and Teixeira meet each other on Saturday night in the main event of UFC 267 with the 205lbs belt on the line that currently belongs to Blachowicz. It’s a fight between two of the oldest fighters in the division as Blachowicz is 38 and Teixeira just turned 42 on Thursday. At Thursday’s pre-fight press conference, a Happy Birthday song broke out for Teixeira among the fans in attendance, and then Blachowicz joined in on the singing. Just days before these two lock horns inside the Octagon, Blachowicz sang him Happy Birthday.

Since joining Bellator, Anderson is 3-0 with three knockouts, and in his next fight, he will battle Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov for the belt and the $1 million prize for the Grand Prix tournament winner. But even before actually winning the tournament, Anderson says that he has already made more money fighting just three times in Bellator than he did in his entire career with the UFC. He believes that it makes Blachowicz jealous knowing how much he earns.
