Kamaru Usman is the UFC’s No.1-ranked pound-for-pound fighter. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has revealed that he was more than willing to defend that rank in 2020, and move up in weight. Usman was willing to move up 35 pounds, in fact. In a recent interview with GQ, Usman revealed that he wanted to move up in weight to fight Jan Blachowicz. The Polish fighter was the UFC’s light-heavyweight champion at the time and had recently defeated Usman’s countryman in Israel Adesanya.

It was a disappointing loss for Blachowicz, who was coming off of a huge win over Israel Adesanya in his last fight. But he is already looking to get back into the cage and get back on track. Although losing that fight to Teixeira was one of the low points of Blachowicz’s UFC career, he often bounces back well from losses, and the Pole is confident that he can make it back to the top of the mountain.

The event saw two titles on the line as Jan Blachowicz was looking to defend his light heavyweight strap against Glover Teixeira while Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen were fighting for the interim bantamweight title. UFC 267 ended up being a good one as in the main event Texeira finally became a UFC champion as he submitted Blachowicz in the second round.
