Cole Shelton - November 1, 2021
The UFC was back on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi for a stacked UFC 267 card on Saturday. The event saw two titles on the line as Jan Blachowicz was looking to defend his light heavyweight strap against Glover Teixeira while Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen were fighting for the interim bantamweight title. It was one hell of a performance by Teixeira, who captured a UFC title at age 42, but for Blachowicz, it was one of the weakest showings in years. Blachowicz, who is known for his “legendary Polish power,” was not able to connect with Teixeira during the fight when it took place on the feet, and on the ground, he had absolutely no answers for Teixeira.

The two then rematched five years later at UFC Rio Rancho in February 2020, with Blachowicz knocking out Anderson in the first round to earn a title shot at the light heavyweight belt.

Anderson left the UFC as a free agent last year following a knockout loss to Blachowicz at UFC Rio Rancho, and he soon found himself in Bellator under the terms of a new, lucrative contract. Since joining Bellator, Anderson is 3-0 with three knockouts, and in his next fight, he will battle Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov for the belt and the $1 million prize for the Grand Prix tournament winner. But even before actually winning the tournament, Anderson says that he has already made more money fighting just three times in Bellator than he did in his entire career with the UFC. Adam D Martin - October 27, 2021
Thiago Santos shared advice with Glover Teixeira on how to beat UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz at Saturday’s UFC 267 event. Santos is a common opponent of both Blachowicz and Teixeira, who meet in the main event of this weekend’s numbered UFC event. In February 2019, Santos became the last man to hand Blachowicz a loss when he knocked him out in the Czech Republic to become the No. 1 contender at 205lbs. That win over Blachowicz set up Santos with a title fight against Jon Jones at UFC 239, and he came super close to winning the belt, ultimately losing a split decision. In Santos’ next fight after the loss to Jones, he was submitted by Teixeira in a back-and-forth fight. So he knows both men very well.

Despite the lopsided loss, Adesanya has made it clear that he intends to move back up to 205lbs in the future. Since losing to Blachowicz earlier this year, Adesanya defended his belt at 185lbs against Marvin Vettori and he is next set to take on Robert Whittaker in a rematch in early 2022. Adam D Martin - October 21, 2021
UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz trashed “coward and quitter” Corey Anderson following the recent comments that he made. Anderson knocked out Ryan Bader at Bellator 268 last weekend and, following his win, he said that he’s the best light heavyweight in the world right now. Blachowicz, however, vehemently disagrees with that assertion. The Pole is the UFC light heavyweight champion and just last February he knocked out Anderson in a devastating fashion. Although Anderson does have a previous win over Blachowicz from UFC 191 in 2015, the recent KO win by Blachowicz seems to indicate that, right now, he is the superior light heavyweight.
