Jimi Manuwa is interested in making his return to the Octagon against Luke Rockhold. Manuwa has not fought since UFC Stockholm last June where he suffered a vicious head kick knockout loss to Aleksandar Rakic. It was his fourth straight loss including three by knockout. But, he has since hinted at a return and even told BJPENN.com he is looking to return and compete again inside the Octagon.

Teixeira was then forced out of the fight with an injury, and replaced by middleweight contender Thiago Santos, who planned to move up a division to fight Manuwa. Unfortunately, that’s not where the trouble ended for the Jimi Manuwa. Days after he arrived in Brazil, he sustained a serious leg injury while sprinting and was ultimately forced out of the cursed card’s main event as a result. Thiago Santos will now battle last-minute replacement Eryk Anders in Manuwa’s stead.

Regrettably, Glover Teixeira was forced out of this fight with an injury, which left the UFC with the difficult task of finding a replacement opponent for Jimi Manuwa. Eventually, after some deliberation, the promotion booked a fight between Manuwa and Brazilian middleweight Thiago Santos, who will move up division for the opportunity.
