Joanna Jedrzejczyk questions Rose Namajunas’ injuries, feels interim belt could be necessary

On Saturday night, on the main card of UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk picked up massive win over the dangerous Tecia Torres. This sorely-needed victory served to separate the former champion from a pair of losses to Rose Namajunas, the woman ended her title reign.

Now back in the win column, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is keen for a third fight with Rose Namajunas. Namajunas, of course, has stated she won’t give Jedrzejczyk a rematch unless the former champion admits she is the better fighter.

Jedrzejczyk says that won’t be happening.

“Rose saying that she will give me the third fight after I will say that she is the best? No way,” Jedrzejczyk said at the UFC Calgary post-fight press conference (via MMAjunkie). “Maybe you beat me, and you’re the champion, and you won, but your legacy is not that big. You should bow down because I am the queen. I give her respect.”

Either way, Namajunas is currently taking some time off to heal up from injuries, and is not expected to fight again this year. Interestingly, however, Jedrzejczyk doubts the legitimacy of her rival’s injuries.

If Namajunas isn’t truly injured, and is just enjoying some R&R, Jedrzejczyk feels the UFC should create an interim belt.

“What I’m hearing is that she’s not really injured,” Jedrzejczyk said. “Maybe she is. I don’t know. Maybe she is injured, so I am sorry. I give her credit. She’s the champ. … If she’s injured, OK. But if she’s just playing, and she just wants holiday, let UFC know that. ‘I want a holiday, I want a break.’ Let UFC make an interim belt, and let’s fight for the belt.”

Whatever the case, Joanna Jedrzejczyk doesn’t seem willing to give up on her desire trilogy fight with Namajunas.

“I will chase you,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I will chase the belt. I will chase you until the next fight. … I will become a champion again.”

Do you think we’ll ever see Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Rose Namajunas fight again?
