UFC welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley was taken aback by Kamaru Usman’s nonchalant response to his fight callout at UFC 307. Buckley knocked out Stephen Thompson at UFC 307 last weekend in Salt Lake City. Since making the full-time move to welterweight, Buckley’s on a roll, with five consecutive victories in the Octagon.

Former UFC welterweight titleholder Kamaru Usman has answered Joaquin Buckley’s calls for a face-to-face in the Octagon in their next appearances. Buckley rallied to knock out former UFC title challenger Stephen Thompson at UFC 307 on Saturday in Salt Lake City. After losing on the judges’ scorecards, Buckley caught Thompson with a massive right hand that sent the karate specialist collapsing to the canvas.

Joaquin Buckley is ready to take a major step up, and he feels the timing is right for a Kamaru Usman showdown. Buckley impressed many fans and experts with his performance at UFC 307. He had a competitive affair with crowd favorite Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Buckley was able to swarm his opponent and land body shots before knocking out Thompson with a punch upstairs.

The Octagon returned to Salt Lake City for tonight’s UFC 307 event, a 12-bout fight card headlined by Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. The highly anticipated light heavyweight title fight proved to be a thrilling back and forth affair. Khalil Rountree Jr. got off to a fast start in his first career title fight, arguably winning both of the first two rounds (at least on many analysts scorecards). However, Alex Pereira was able to turn the tide in his favor in round three and proceeded to batter ‘The War Horse’ throughout the course of round four. In the final seconds of the fourth frame, ‘Poatan’ landed a brutal body-head combination that put Rountree Jr. down for good.

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has responded to Joaquin Buckley’s recent invitation for a face-to-face conversation after their hostile online back-and-forths. Cormier and Buckley’s relationship soured after Buckley’s callout of Conor McGregor at UFC Louisville in May. Cormier called the decision to call out McGregor the “worst callout in UFC history”, to which Buckley didn’t respond in kind.

While his performance isn’t in question, Buckley has received some flak for his callout of Conor McGregor. Not only is such a fight quite the lofty goal for Buckley, but “New Mansa” even went after Conor’s bloodline.
