Joe Rogan renews contract with Spotify to stream podcast, deal reportedly worth $250 million
It’s a good time to be UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
The longtime color commentator is one of the most famous MMA personalities and has been for years. Thanks to the success of his ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast, his popularity has only grown. Starting in 2009, the comedian and UFC analyst began interviewing everyone from politicians to fighters. Over the following decade, the show exploded in popularity.
The podcast continually grew over the years on YouTube, until late 2020. That year, Joe Rogan signed an exclusive deal with the streaming service Spotify to stream his podcast. The deal was reportedly worth $200 million and was set to expire in 2024. In case fans were worried, no, the show won’t be leaving Spotify.
Much the opposite in fact. Earlier today, Joe Rogan and Spotify announced a new deal. According to various reports about the contract, the deal will net the UFC commentator $250 million. The contract is set to be for three years, similar to his first. However, this deal will be much different than his original with the streaming service.
Starting in 2020, the Joe Rogan Experience was streamed exclusively on Spotify. However, his new contract allows for the podcast to be posted to YouTube, and other platforms as well. According to details from The Wall Street Journal, Rogan will get a guaranteed minimum from Spotify, as well as a portion of ad sales.

“I think podcasting is an art form and I definitely sucked at it when I first started.” Joe Rogan stated in an interview with Spotify earlier today, confirming news of the deal. “I was curious, but I didn’t understand how to make a conversation flow. I didn’t know when to shut up and listen, and I didn’t know how to make someone comfortable so that you can get the most out of their perspective. I’ve learned how to assist the conversation’s flow instead of waiting for my turn to talk. I learned how to be fully locked in with what the other person is saying.”
He continued, “…I always feel like, in starting this podcast, I stumbled into this fantastic accidental education just by being interested in talking to people, and being fortunate enough that people want to listen.”
As far as Joe Rogan’s MMA commentary is concerned, fans can expect him to see at UFC 298 later this month. While he hasn’t been announced for the card, he hasn’t missed a pay-per-view event taking place in America in quite a long time. That card will be headlined by a featherweight title bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria.
