Jon Jones bitterly reacts to Daniel Cormier’s offer to help Ovince Saint Preux

By Russell Ess - April 4, 2016

The heated rivalry between former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and the current champion Daniel Cormier will continue on with Cormier having to pull out their title fight at UFC 197 on April 23rd.

BJPENN.COM reported on Friday that Cormier had to withdraw from the title fight with Jones due to an injury suffered in training. The UFC revealed shortly after that Ovince Saint Preux has stepped in on short notice to replace Cormier and fight Jones for the interim title.

On Monday, Cormier spoke with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour and sent out an offer to Saint Preux to help coach him and offer his training partners at the American Kickboxing Academy to prepare him for the interim title fight. Cormier went as far as to include paying for the flight and posting Saint Preux up with housing while training in San Jose at AKA.

Helwani revealed the information to Jones who was also a guest on Monday’s episode and the former champion was not happy about it and expressed his disgust with a post on twitter that said, “Willing to train OSP and is willing to pay for his expenses? You are a sheep in wolves clothing and I see right through you. pussy.”

Cormier will fight the winner of Jones vs. Saint Preux to unify the belts in the UFC light heavyweight division at a later date.
