Jon Jones breaks silence after UFC 226
Ever since UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic to claim the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 226, we’ve been waiting for the first comments of his arch rival, Jon Jones.
Well, Jones has now issued those comments — and they’re shockingly passive.
Despite all the animosity shared between Cormier and Jones — perhaps the two most heated rivals in MMA history — Jones hasn’t said anything nasty just yet. Instead, he seems to be taking a more nonchalant approach.
Jones” first comment occurred when a fan rightfully suggested that the entire MMA community was awaiting Jones’ reaction to Cormier’s big win.
Well I hope the whole MMM community is having an awesome Monday. Know that God is love https://t.co/6WYDXkpTN2

“Well I hope the whole [MMA] community is having an awesome Monday,” Jones said in response to this fan. “Know that God is love.”
Jones then Retweeted a highlight reel of all of his UFC finishes, and added the following in a second Tweet.
Just keep in mind that life is a journey and not a race. If it’s in Gods will for me to still be here and healthy, please believe that they’ll be many more fights to come. Let’s not forget I’m still the youngest guy in the top 5 at HW & LHW @UniqueMazique 🙂🤙🏾

“Just keep in mind that life is a journey and not a race,” he said. “If it’s in God’s will for me to still be here and healthy, please believe that [there’ll] be many more fights to come. Let’s not forget I’m still the youngest guy in the top 5 at [heavyweight and light heavyweight]”
Jon Jones is currently sidelined as he awaits USADA sentencing for a failed drug test administered before his July 2016 title fight with Cormier. In this fight, Jones knocked Cormier out with a kick, but the result was overturned due to his failed drug test.
Interestingly, Cormier also had a pretty noncommittal attitude when he was asked about Jones post-fight.
“I would [fight him again], if he’s around,” Cormier said of his rival at the UFC 226 post-fight press conference (via MMAJunkie). “But I don’t know if he’s going to be around. But at this point, does he even deserve it? I hold the cards now. He may have won the fights, but I hold the cards. I’m the one that competed.
Do you think we’ll ever see Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier fight again?
